Georgia College awarded undergraduate and graduate degrees to 326 students on Dec.

About 260 undergraduates were awarded their bachelor’s in a variety of majors and 67 undergraduates received their master’s and specialist degrees.

There were eight valedictorians with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

They are criminal justice major Lauren Hall of Tennille; music major and Spanish minor Levi Rafal of Athens; exercise science major Grace Ann Jackson of Bethlehem; nursing major Madeline Meyers of Yulee, Florida; nursing major and Spanish minor Taylor Ramsay of Dalton; psychology major and business administration minor Morgan Brennen of Roswell; psychology major Jenna Charles of Milledgeville; and psychology major and criminal justice minor Anna Graves of Atlanta.

The speaker of the ceremony was Dr. Joanna Schwartz, a professor of marketing in the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business and Technology.

Dr. Schwartz is also a Georgia Governor’s Teaching Fellow and the 2022 recipient of the Georgia College Excellence in Teaching Award. She spoke to students on how a career path isn’t always a straight line, and that no one is ever too young or too old, or too experienced or inexperienced, to change directions along the way.

“A lifetime of work doesn’t feel like work if you love what you do,” Schwartz said. “College is a great place to open your eyes to the opportunities that are waiting. It’s important to know that once you graduate you still need to keep them open to new opportunities and possibilities.” Georgia College & State University would like to congratulate all the students who participated in commencement and wish a happy pursuit of their futures as alumni of the college.
