On Dec. 1, law enforcement observed an SUV turn left onto Vinson Highway from Laying Farm Road without stopping at the stop sign. A traffic stop was conducted, and a white pickup truck pulled alongside the police car. The truck was driven by a Department of Corrections officer who informed law enforcement that the driver of the SUV had made a drop at the prison.
The SUV driver was identified as Hernado Waters. It was reported that his license was suspended, vehicle registration was suspended, and he was a wanted person.
Reportedly, law enforcement began to search the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana exiting from the SUV.
The officer located an open container of Blue Razz Four Loko, empty boxes for footballs, several empty containers of Bugler's, and a football that was cut open to reveal an unopened pack of Newport 100's Box, one cellphone, three Bugler Original (115 papers), and an unknown quantity of tobacco. While searching the vehicle, the reporting officer was made aware that Baldwin State Prison located two footballs containing contraband.
