Man wielding machete threatens household

Law enforcement was dispatched to Fifth Street Nov. 20 in reference to threats with an offender wielding a machete.

The male matching the description given was found on Moore Street. The offender was later identified as Gregory Barnes Ivey and was found holding a machete and having a pocketknife on his person.

According to Ivey, he was never on Fifth Street. He advised the officer he was walking from Jet #6 on Irwinton Street to his home in Harrisburg. However, upon further questioning, the report notes that Ivey changed his story and said he went to Fifth Street to do work for the complainant.

According to this second statement, he arrived at the residence when the complainant exited the front door and began to yell at him. He claims he left when this occurred.

According to the report, the complainant stated that Ivey came to her home uninvited and began to threaten everyone there, saying he would kill them all.

Another witness confirmed her story and admitted to being threatened by Ivey. It was also discovered that Ivey had been threatening them via telecommunications overnight.

Warrants for two counts of felony terroristic threats and one count of harassing communications was secured for Ivey.
