What: Christmas at the Mansion When: 2-4 p.m. (Sunday); 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Tuesday - Saturday) Where: 120 South Clark Street More info: Take a step back in time and discover holiday traditions passed down from our city’s earliest families as Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion is transformed with 19th-century era Holiday decor. Tours are on the hour. Join an evening tour of the Mansion with candles lit and choirs singing in the rotunda. Candlelight tours are at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. on December 3 and 17. Normal admission rates apply and reservations are required for the candlelight tours. Make sure to join the mansion for one of the most wonderful times of the year!

What: Seeking Asylum When: 3-6 p.m. (Nov. 29) & 2-4 p.m. (Dec. 4) Where: The Just Imagine Cottage, 95 Depot Circle Dr., Milledgeville More info: Over the past year, Milledgeville resident Jessica Whitehead has turned her talents to photographing poignant and moving images of Central State Hospital. Her exhibit, Seeking Asylum, will have 35 images on canvas of Central State Hospital. There is no admission to the exhibit; however, donations for the repair of the water damage to the Brown-Stetson-Sanford House will be gratefully accepted. Photographs will be available for purchase.

What: Evening with the Grinch When: 6:30 p.m. Where: Milledgeville Visitor’s Center More info: Santa won’t be the only celebrity in town. The Grinch will be arriving in Milledgeville, dressed as Santa, to pose for pictures and to spread the holiday cheer. Meet the Grinch and decorate cookies. There will also be a little Christmas village for younger children to play in. This free event is the perfect opportunity to take pictures for your holiday cards.
What: First Friday: Merry Main Street When: 6-8 p.m. Where: Downtown Milledgeville More info: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Milledgeville as preparations are made for the holiday season. The tree lighting will take place at 6:00pm on West Hancock Street in front of The Local Yolkal Cafe with the Honorable Mayor Mary Parham Copelan doing the honors. An addition to the Milledgeville Tree Lighting event, Milly Market will feature local small business owners selling Christmas gifts, decor, art, and more.

What: Christmas Parade When: 3:30 p.m. More info: Don’t miss Santa at the annual Milledgeville Christmas Parade. The parade starts at 3:30 p.m. through the streets of Downtown Milledgeville beginning at the South Gate of Georgia Military College to Elbert Street and down West Hancock before turning south toward Piggly Wiggly. This parade is presented by the Milledgeville Exchange Club.

What: Reindeer Flight School When: 6-9 p.m. Where: 101 Sportsmans Club Road Northeast More info: Walk through a winter wonderland in Baldwin County’s largest lights display! Reindeer Flight School cannot be completely seen from the road, plan to park and walk around through over 40,000 lights on trees, additional lights on snowflakes, wreaths, flying reindeer, and more on display. Photo opportunities are abundant and be sure to climb atop a life-size wooden reindeer. Santa sightings are possible nightly, but he typically appears on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9 p.m. Admission is free to all but donations are greatly appreciated! The Reindeer Flight School is off 441, near Serenity Spa. Turn on Old Sportsman Club Road then the third street on the left. You cannot miss it! Lights and Santa do not appear in the rain.

Washington Ave.), spectators can watch it pass along S. Jefferson Ave, then N. Jefferson Ave. before turning left onto W. Wayne St., left onto N. Madison Ave., right onto Marion, and left onto S. Washington, heading back to the school. After the parade, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus for free photographs (with your own camera) at Eatonton City Center Stage, followed by a Christmas-themed movie at 5:30 p.m.
