Cox presented with gifts

In appreciation of contributions made by Georgia College (GC) faculty and students through conducting research, developing websites, and creating displays and signage, Larry Moore of the Historic Scenic Byway and Rock Hawk Effigy, Museums, Trails & Park presented a pair of representative gifts Aug. 29, to current GC President Cathy Cox. A hand-carved Rock Hawk hiking stick has been gifted to each GC president over the past 20 years, and the unique, inscribed piece of marble representing the state of Georgia was cut from a past Georgia Capitol building renovation. The 1,000-acre Rock Hawk attraction (125 Wallace Dam Road, Eatonton), on Lake Oconee is among the projects of the Historic Scenic Byway Corp., a statedesignated and federally recognized byway and non-profit corporation. Among other projects, Scenic Byway attractions include author Alice Walker sites, the Famous Authors driving tour, and the first county seats of Putnam, Baldwin, and six other counties. CONTRIBUTED
