What: Kayak Fundamentals Training Course

More info: New to kayaking or thinking about getting into the sport? Oconee Outfitters has put together a course to teach you basic kayaking principles and practices. They’ll explore topics like transportation, entering/exiting the water, basic paddle strokes, and introduce techniques for rescue, both assisted and solo. The course should take approximately 3 hours and at the end you’ll have enough knowledge to feel comfortable getting on the water on your own. The price for the course is $75. If you purchase a kayak from Oconee Outfitters within 90 days before taking the class, the price is $50. (If you take the course first, a $25 discount may also be applied to the price of a new kayak for 90 days following the course.) Training will take place on Lake Sinclair. More Info: David Drake was an enslaved Black potter in South Carolina who produced stoneware jugs inscribed with original poetry in a time when this knowledge was a punishable offense. A second gallery installation features ceramic work by contemporary artist Zipporah Camille Thompson of Atlanta. Her work fuses old and new, referencing ancient cultures and millennial predilections.
