Male steals $2,000 necklace

On May 21, law enforcement responded to JC Grant Jewelry in reference to a possible robbery. Upon arrival at the location, an officer found several witnesses outside of the business who recalled a white male wearing a red shirt breaking one of the display cases. They reported that the male stole the jewelry before fleeing the area. The officer observed one of the exterior display cases shattered along and located a metal pole which appeared to have been used to break the case. Dispatch advised that the male was spotted near the rear parking lot of Ned Kelly’s and the officer responded to the area. A male matching the description, later identified as Seth Walsh, was found and was detained. Amongst Walsh’s belongings, a diamond pendant gold necklace was located and appeared to be tied into one of the plastic bags Walsh was carrying. The necklace had a tag from JC Grant and was valued at $2,100. Walsh stated that he did break the display case and took the necklace. A warrant for smash and grab burglary was obtained.

Male obstructs law enforcement

On May 22, law enforcement responded to the Fat Squirrel in reference to a subject with a weapon. While enroute, dispatch advised a white male in a blue shirt was threatening patrons

outside of the location with a knife. Upon arrival, the officer observed a large group of people fighting in front of the Fat Squirrel. As one officer approached, he observed a male, later identified as Adam Blake Smith, struggling to be taken into custody by two other officers. With the effort of three officers, they utilized his movement and momentum to lower him to the ground and handcuff him. Smith was led to the rear of a patrol vehicle and continued to research a search incident and refused commands given to him by officers. When trying to put Smith into the vehicle, he kicked an officer in the chest before being secured in the vehicle. Allegedly, Smith had previously stabbed a bouncer and another patron with a pocketknife. Smith was found to have a laceration to his thumb, as well as being under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the hospital to receive medical care and continued to resist law enforcement when they tried to get photos of his injuries. At the hospital, an officer spoke with the bouncer who stated that he was alerted of Smith causing trouble in the bar and asked to escort him out. Reportedly, when he tried to escort Smith out of the bar, Smith began to shove him, so the bouncer began to push back. The bouncer was able to get him out of the business when he reported that he was alerted about Smith’s knife. Reportedly, the bouncer said it was too late and he felt a stinging in his left side and found he was cut with the knife three times sometime during the shoving. The officer observed the wounds which appeared to be three shallow lacerations on the left side of the bouncer’s chest. Two warrants for misdemeanor obstruction of officers as well as one warrant for felony obstruction of officers were obtained. Video footage of the incident will be obtained at a later time to determine if the act of aggravated assault occurred.
