Cell phone accessory stolen at Jet Food Store

On May 10, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store at 301 East Hancock Street in reference to a theft that was reported. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with a manager who had been informed by an employee about the theft of a cell phone accessory item. Reportedly, a GMC employee that was working on the construction site across the street, came in and took a cell phone accessory item. The manager looked at surveillance footage and saw the male come into the store, grab a phone accessory item and put it in his right pants pocket. The male then exited the store and disposed of the packaging in the parking lot as he walked across the street to his job site. While checking the footage, the manager reported that the male entered the premises again and she told him to leave and not return. The male agreed not to come back and left without incident. Eventually, the officer made contact with Jujaun Mitchell by the Golden Pantry on East Hancock Street. Mitchell was asked for identification as he matched the description of the male on the surveillance footage. Mitchell was identified as the male and signed the notice of prohibited entry for the Jet Food Store. Mitchell admitted to taking a cell phone accessory valued at $14.99 on May 9 and called it a stupid decision on his end. Mitchell was cited for theft by shoplifting under $500.00.

Confrontation at The Fat Squirrel

On May 12, law enforcement responded to a call on 210 East McIntosh Street in reference to a fight. An officer met with the victim who stated he went to The Fat Squirrel for some drinks. The victim stated while playing pool, a Hispanic male continued to stare at him for no reason. According to the report, the victim tried to talk to the male when he became confrontational. The pair went outside to talk about the situation when the male reportedly struck the victim with his fist before leaving the area. While speaking with the victim, an officer noticed bruising and swelling above his right eye. The victim declined being seen by EMS or to press charges but asked that his wallet be retrieved. The officer retrieved the wallet from the bar and returned it to the victim. There is nothing further at this time.

Burglary at All 4-U

On May 16, an officer observed a burglary in progress at All 4-U. Due to previously reported break-ins of the business throughout the past week, the office was positioned in a nearby location in order to keep check on the store. During a previous shift, two officers had to clear the business after signs of intrusion were discovered. In order to enter the business, they walked through glass from a previously shattered door that made very loud cracking sounds. On the May 16 shift, the officer heard the same audible cracks of glass being stepped on. They did not have a have a clear view of the unsecure door but approximately ten to fifteen seconds after they heard the glass being stepped on, they observed two subjects entering All 4-U. Once more law enforcement arrived on scene and a perimeter was established, contact was attempted with the subjects. A male, who identified himself as Eddie Wade, attempted to flee out a door on the north side of the building and was quickly detained by deputies. The second individual, who later identified himself as Calvin Goddard, fled back inside the business and refused to answer police commands to surrender. After officers entered the business and began to clear it, Goddard was located hiding under construction debris. A Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy searched Wade and located a glass pipe with suspected drug residue inside it. Wade was then transported to the Milledgeville Police Department and was searched again upon his arrival. A small amount of suspected methamphetamine was located in Wade’s left pants pocket. After the interview at the MPD concluded, Wade was transported to Baldwin Law Enforcement Center (LEC). Jail staff located a card amongst his belongings with the name Eugene Days. This was confirmed to be his true identity. Goddard was also searched, and a small bag of suspected methamphetamine was located in a fanny pack on Goddard along with a small amount of suspected marijuana, a scale, and small screwdriver. Warrants for burglary, drug related objects, possession of a schedule II substance, and giving a false name to officers were secured for Days. Warrants for burglary and possession of a schedule II substance were secured for Goddard.
