More info: Georgia Military presents Anastasia the musical. The musical is about the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, who could have escaped the execution of her family. Years later, an amnesiac orphan named Anya hopes to find some trace of her family by siding with two con men who wish to take advantage of her likeness to the Grand Duchess. This play is based on a 1997 film and is packed with adventure and music.

What: Garden Club of Georgia Historic Landscape Preservation Tour, Luncheon, Lecture

More info: On Saturday, May 14, Lockerly is very excited to host the Historic Landscapes Programs annual fundraiser. The event will be from 10am to 2pm and will feature tours of Rose Hill and the grounds. Tickets include a tour of Historic Rose Hill and keynote speaker, Milledgeville’s own Jon Jackson of Comfort Farms. We are especially excited that lunch will be prepared by Jon. The mission of Comfort Farms is to promote a structured, holistic approach for displaced veterans suffering from PTSD and other invisible disabilities, aiding their reintegration into family, society and economy. This event is open to the public! Tickets are $40 per person and you can register online.

More Info: State Bd of Education member Dr. Stanley DeJarnett will hold a public hearing for citizens of Baldwin, Greene, Morgan, Putnam, Taliaferro, Barrow, Butts, Glascock, Hancock, Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Walton, Warren, Washington and WIlkes counties. The purpose of the hearing is to hear comments from interested citizens and educators within the congressional district regarding K-12 education. THose wishing to speak should sign in upon arrival. More Info: Over 1,000 catfish have been stocked into Lockerly’s pond and are waiting for you to catch them. For youth ages 16 and younger, 1 adult must accompany per 2 children, Lockerly provides hot dogs for bait but you may BYO worms, BYO rods, reels, tackle, stringer or bucket. Take home up to 5 fish per child.

More Info: David Drake was an enslaved Black potter in South Carolina who produced stoneware jugs inscribed with original poetry in a time when this knowledge was a punishable offense. A second gallery installation features ceramic work by contemporary artist Zipporah Camille Thompson of Atlanta. Her work fuses old and new, referencing ancient cultures and millennial predilections.
