Simmons wins District 2 run-off election

Baldwin County held its Municipal General Election Run-Off Dec. 2, for the city council District 2 race between Arlene Simmons and Brooks Snider. Simmons won the election by securing nearly 78 percent of the votes Tuesday. She received 77 votes, representing 77.

Baldwin chief magistrate arrested for DUI

Baldwin County Chief Magistrate Shane Geeter, who sometimes works DUI cases, was arrested Nov. 29 at 8:44 p.m. for driving under the influence, according to the Georgia State Patrol.“A trooper stopped a white Volvo for the driver failing to maintain lane while driving on Georgia Highway 212.
Late last month, the Knights of Columbus Council No. 9458 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Milledgeville delivered 48 new coats to students at Putnam County Elementary School. The donation to PCES kids was part of a nationwide Coats for Kids program by Knights of Columbus and was coordinated through Rev. Dr. Avis Williams, the community liaison for Putnam Schools, and Elementary School Principal Whitney Smith.
