GMC to honor marine who served at Montford Point

The family of the late Rev. Horace Ray Sr. will receive a medal in a ceremony at Georgia Military College (GMC) on Saturday, August 19. The presentation is part of an ongoing effort by a national organization to recognize a group of military men who served in the 1940’s.

BOC approves contracts for capital projects, talks taxes

The Baldwin County Board of Commissioners approved two contracts for capital projects and heard updates on the millage rate. Assistant County Manager Dawn Hudson gave an update on the millage rate. After evaluation of the PT-30 rollback, the 2023 millage rate set by the rollback form will be 10.

Local photographer to be exhibited in Georgia Capitol

Deadline passes for downtown building repairs

Clean-up work on the vacant building in downtown Milledgeville could begin within a couple of months, nearly 5.5 years after it sustained significant damage. An order signed by Municipal Court Judge David McRee on June 7 gave owners of the property at 107 and 115 S. Wayne St.

BOC awards contracts for park projects

The Baldwin County Board of Commissioners awarded two design and engineering contracts this past Tuesday for parks and streetscape projects funded by state and federal grant funds. The two projects are part of the grant totaling $6 million received in June, which also included the Aquatic Center.

DBHDD to ‘dispose’ of four CSH buildings

Gov. Brian Kemp signed an executive order last Tuesday authorizing the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) to “dispose” of the Jones, Green, Walker, and Wash House buildings on the Central State Hospital (CSH) campus.
