Law enforcement was patrolling the parking lot of Super Inn & Suites Feb. 14 when an officer observed a red 2017 Volkswagen Passat that was reported stolen earlier that day.
When the officer approached the vehicle, it was unoccupied at the time. However, after reviewing video footage from the security cameras, officers were able to identify Willante Russell driving the vehicle to the rear of the parking lot before parking. Russell exited the vehicle and began walking up the stairs to the second floor of the hotel before going out of view of the camera.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Russell earlier on the same date in reference to being in possession of another stolen vehicle and entering autos.
The owner of the vehicle was contacted, and the vehicle was turned over to them.
A warrant for theft by receiving stolen property was applied to Willante Russell.
