Taylor’s Cover on Lake Sinclair was buzzing with excitement June 21 as attendees gathered to watch live music played by Uncle Earl and Friends and country singer Kyler Weston.
Every Friday and Saturday night, Taylor’s Cove comes to life with these live performances, helping local bands expand their reach. On Saturday, the most popular viewing spot was the outdoor deck bar, where many sat and listened to the music while sipping on cocktails.
The restaurant was founded in 2021 by Micheal Taylor and his partner Ben Cook. Taylor, who is also known for The Fat Squirrel and Reel Grill, wanted to build an environment where customers could enjoy food and drinks while being able to look at the views of Lake Sinclair.
“We opened in July 2021 after we were approached by the previous owners. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity and location ,” said Taylor.
According to multiple customers, restaurant has a very “homey vibe,” that creates a sense of comfort. The restaurants design with an indoor and outdoor area consisting of two bars without too much lighting, accounts for most of this “vibe” described.
“It’s a really great experience [to work at the location] and the people that work here are the best people I’ve ever met,” said Madeline Marchman a waitress and hostess. “Micheal and Ben are some of the most hardworking people I know, and they sacrifice a lot for this restaurant.”
Taylor’s Cove has a large-scale menu with some of the house favorites being the Dynamite Shrimp Tacos, the Brisket Man-N-Cheese, and the Bourbon Glazed Salmon, according to Marchman. They also feature different pasta dishes such as the Fettuccini Alfredo.
The restaurant also just finished creating a new drink called Taylor’s Day Off.
“It’s an island style lager brewed by Nick at Ocmulgee Brewpub, specifically for us,” said Taylor.
Whether you’re hungry or looking for a cozy atmosphere on the lake, Taylor’s Cove invites everyone to join the jam on Friday and Saturday evenings.
“We are like one big family,” said Marchman.
