Man fires multiple shots at mother and child

>> CRIME WATCH

Shots were reportedly fired March 10 at a residence at 114 Russwood Road.

The original caller stated he heard multiple shots and two vehicles leaving the residence. A few moments later, a female who was at the residence called and stated her child’s father had shot at her.

When the victim called, she reported the father was leaving in a black BMW heading toward Putnam County. Law enforcement shortly arrived on scene and approximately halfway up the driveway they located three bullet impact marks in the ground. Two pieces of bullet fragments were pulled from two of the holes.

While on scene, Putnam County law enforcement located the vehicle on Pea Ridge Road and detained Antonio Lavell Sanders. A pistol was in his possession. After collecting the bullet fragments, an officer met up with the victim, who reported that she and a friend were returning from Atlanta when they received a call from Sanders.

Reportedly, he told the victim that their daughter needed to go to the hospital. When the victim arrived at the residence, Sanders was reportedly sitting on the back of his vehicle with a gray pistol in his hand. The pair spoke briefly to get a car seat, during which the victim states Sanders threatened her about entering his car to retrieve it.

The victim further reported that while putting the car seat and her daughter in the car, Sanders shot at her or in her area multiple times.

The witness with the victim retold the same story but did state that she was unable to see the shots fired, yet did hear them. Another witness stated they heard six shots coming from the residence and following the shots he saw two vehicles leaving the residence.

Warrants were secured for aggravated assault (family violence) and cruelty to children in the third degree against Sanders.
