GMC Prep School student attends West Point STEM camp

Out of the 1,200 rising ninth and tenth grade students from across the country that applied, only 120 applicants were chosen to attend the United States Military Academy - West Point’s STEM Camp this summer. Out of those 120, Georgia Military College Prep School’s very own Danica Resha was selected!

This unique week-long program offers hands-on learning activities in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, including video game design, VEX robotics, structural engineering, circuit kits and foldscope microscopes.

STEM Camp is held on West Point’s campus in New York and participants from all over the United States get the opportunity to stay in the barracks and eat in the Mess Hall on campus, just like West Point Cadets do. While the week is heavily focused on academics and sharpening leadership skills, there is also a social aspect of STEM camp.

Resha sid, “Upon arrival, campers are put into squads for the week and one of my favorite parts about camp was getting to know my fellow squad members.”

GMC Prep School is extremely proud of Cadet Resha for being selected to attend such a prestigious camp and know this amazing experience will benefit her greatly for years to come.

“Resha was our 3rd Battalion Commander in eighth grade and has always been a strong, respected leader” said GMC Prep Principal Dr. Steve Greer. “Which is why It is no surprise that she was named the eighth Squad’s Top Camper by her cadet leader and the West Point Faculty.”

For the 2022-2023 school year, Resha was selected by GMC Prep School leadership to be a Staff Sergeant for GMC’s 2nd battalion during her sophomore year.
