Georgia Military College Preparatory School (GMC Prep) is proud to announce that Rusty Courson has been named the new athletic director, effective Dec. 13, 2023. This change of role was decided as current Athletic Director Andrew Grodecki announced stepping down from his position due to his family relocating.
As athletic director, Courson is responsible for overseeing all athletic programs for GMC Prep and will manage and coordinate various aspects of all sports teams.
“I am excited about the opportunity to be the athletic director for GMC Prep, an institution that has a tremendous amount of energy for its student-athletes. It is with great honor that I have been appointed the position and am ready to continue to support the coaches, staff, and student-athletes,” said Courson.
While Courson has been in education for over 19 years, he has been an essential member of the GMC Prep School family for the past 10 years. He has a BBA in marketing from Georgia College & State University and a MEd from Cambridge College. Courson has been active in sports at GMC Prep as he has coached baseball, basketball, and football.

“Rusty’s dedication to student-athlete success and his educational experience make him the ideal candidate to lead our athletic programs. He has already proven himself to be a strong leader and we are confident that he will continue to encourage our coaches and student-athletes.”
