Georgia Military College (GMC) hosted the 2025 Ethics Bowl Nov. 5, on its main campus in Milledgeville. This year’s competition featured four teams comprised of students from the GMC Corps of Cadets, each engaging in thoughtful debate and critical discussion on a series of challenging ethical cases.

After three rounds of regular competition and one championship round held in front of the entire Corps of Cadets, Team 1 emerged victorious, earning the title of 2025 GMC Ethics Bowl Champions.

The Cadets representing GMC as the 2025 Ethics Bowl Champions are Jimmy McCants, Divya Tiwary, Berkely Smith, Alex Malaj, Mikayla Brent, and Trinity Mitti.

The winning GMC team will advance to represent GMC at the national level, traveling to Chicago, Illinois, on Nov. 22 for the Two-Year Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (IEB), hosted by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE).

“Our Ethics Bowl teams have dedicated countless hours to preparing for this competition,” said Dr. Unna Yared, assistant professor of Sociology and coach/advisor for the GMC Ethics Bowl Teams.

“They’ve engaged in deep discussions, sharpened their critical thinking skills, and worked together to thoughtfully consider complex ethical issues. Their hard work and commitment to excellence truly represent the spirit of Georgia Military College and have prepared them to use ethics in their everyday life.”

The GMC Ethics Bowl continues to serve as a platform for students to develop and display ethical leadership, fostering intellectual growth, collaboration, and respect for differing perspectives.
