This morning a Georgia Department of Corrections Transport van and another vehicle were involved in a crash on Highway 212.
“The passenger vehicle was traveling west on Highway 212 just south of Old Plantation Trail road. The vehicle was behind a tractor trailer and attempted to pass in a no passing zone. When they did this, the silver Nissan struck the DOC van head on,” said Sgt. Kevin Pope, Georgia State Patrol officer.
The DOC van was not transporting any inmates during the time of the crash. The driver and one passenger suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Nissan suffered serious injuries and later passed.
“Traffic has been clear since about 11 a.m.,” said Pope. “So, the road is safe to drive again.”
