    Farmers Home Furniture in Milledgeville is open for business to provide a personal experience for local home furnishing needs.

    John Turner, the manager of the Milledgeville store, said he grew up in Dublin, and moved to Athens where he lived for 14 years. He said he did restaurant work there, but then started working for Farmers Home Furniture as a credit manager. A position became available in the Monroe location in 2011, so he worked at that store.

    Turner said he worked there almost eleven years before taking over the Milledgeville location this year.

    “We live here in Milledgeville now, and I’m only 12 minutes from the store. I was already familiar with the town a little, but I really enjoy the small town feel since that’s what I came from,” he said. “Everyone is nice here, and there are lots of outdoor activities to do.”

    The Farmers Home Furniture in Milledgeville is located at 1841 North Columbia Street. The store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Turner said they want to provide a great experience for customers and help meet their needs.

    “Farmers Home Furniture in Milledgeville has been around since 1981, and the company has been around since 1949 in Dublin. I grew up in Dublin, and I’ve been here since May. We serve Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky. We’ve grown a lot,” he said.

    The manager said they provide a wide range of furniture to the Milledgeville community. He said a lot of the items are essentials, and they have helped people in the community for years. Turner said they have payment plans and accounts for customers, and they provide low payment options for Milledgeville customers.

    “We’re small town based, and there are other local furniture stores around, but we do provide a personal experience,” he said. “Places like Havertys do things online, and they don’t get to know their customers. We get to know our customers, and there have been people who have bought furniture from Farmers Home Furniture for many years now.”

    The manager said they sell sofas, love seats, recliners, bedroom groups of all sizes, mattresses, rugs, lamps, lawn mowers, trailers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, computers, TVs, and more.

    He said people should do business at Farmers Home Furniture, because they take care of the customers and provide payment plans. Turner said the employees in Milledgeville have been there a long time, so they are familiar with the people and the area. He said they all have a lot of experience to be able to help customers with their home furnishing needs.

    “I feel people generally like shopping here. I think our prices are competitive, and lower in some instances,” he said. “I enjoy the people here. I’ve met a lot of people, and we have great employees and great customers. I would like for more people to come check us out sometime.”
