Shoplifting under investigation

On Oct. 14, law enforcement made contact with a manager at Walmart, at 2592 N. Columbia St., in reference to a previous shoplifting incident by Lindsey Irish. Irish was previously charged with felony theft by shoplifting due to altering price tags during checkout. The manager stated after the incident, she went back into the system to investigate previous incidents where Irish had made purchases inside the store. Roberts stated she had potentially discovered up to 15 separate incidents where Irish had committed similar thefts inside the store. The most recent incident she had investigated occurred on Oct. 8. While monitoring security footage of Irish at the selfcheckout, she proceeded to purchase 27 items, though only three were properly rang up. For the other 24 items, Irish would use the tags of much cheaper items in place of the pricier items. The total before tax for the stolen goods was valued at $488.98. The investigation is still ongoing.

Customer caught shoplifting clothes

On Oct. 16, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart, at 2592 N.

Columbia St., in reference to shoplifting. The subject, later identified as Ke'Amber Simmons, was sitting inside the Asset Protection office. A manager observed Simmons walking with a Walmart plastic bag activating suspiciously. Simmons was placing clothing items inside the plastic bag and later passed the last point of sale without paying for the clothing items totaling $34.92. Simmons stated the manager’s version of the incident is correct and did not deny any of the allegations.

Simmons received a citation for shoplifting under $500.

Unknown suspect breaks into home

On Oct. 16, law enforcement made contact with Monica Reeves at 1498 S. Jefferson St. in reference to a burglary. Reeves stated someone forced entry into her residence through the back door while she was asleep. An Apple laptop, Iphone 15, and a gaming headset were stolen.The door frame and lock on the door were broken. Reeves did not have any suspects.

Woman arrested for burglary

On Oct. 18, law enforcement was dispatched to 114 B. Martin Drive in reference to a burglary. Jervoski Womble stated Brittney Middlebooks entered his residence while he was not there. Womble made contact with Middlebrooks who was in her white Honda Accord. Womble stated he asked her what was wrong but she stated she was leaving. Womblei stated he was standing on the passenger side of her vehicle with the passenger door open when she reversed and dragged him with the open door. When he walked inside, his residence was trashed. Multiple items in the residence appeared to be damaged including a HiSense TV, PlayStation 5, a window to the residence, miscellaneous furniture, miscellaneous clothes, and miscellaneous food items. Warrants for burglary and aggravated assault were secured on Brittney Middlebrooks.

Drunk driver stopped on North Columbia St.

On Oct. 19, while patrolling the area of North Columbia Street, an officer observed a dark Chevrolet Blazer failing to maintain lane multiple times. The driver, Quinshoun Henderson, had a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from his breath while speaking with law enforcement.

The officer conducted a Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and determined him unsafe to drive. Henderson refused to provide a breath sample on a portable breath test. Henderson was placed under arrest for the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Henderson was taken into custody and transported to Baldwin LEC without incident. Henderson tested positive for alcohol with a breath alcohol content of 0.147 grams on the Georgia Model Intoxilyzer 9000. Henderson was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain lane.
