Woman tries to steal vegetables

On Oct. 8, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart, on 2592 N.

Columbia St., in reference to a theft.

Yessnia Guerrero entered the point of sale with her items and rang up items that were inside of her shopping cart.

On security footage, Guerrero removed carrots, limes, and chicken from her shopping cart but failed to scan the items. She concealed them inside of the Walmart shopping bag while scanning them. Guerrero paid for a total of 15 items but failed to scan and pay for 19 items totaling $25.51. Guerrero was cited for theft by shoplifting.

Man tries to steal trading cards

On Oct. 8, law enforcement was dispatched to the Dollar General, at 101 Register Rd., in reference to shoplifting.

The store manager was working the cash register, when she observed a man and woman enter the store and go to separate areas. The woman attempted to distract her as the manager witnessed the man take several packs of Pokémon cards and place them in his pocket. After the manager denied the woman’s bathroom request, the woman yelled for the man to leave the store. Both individuals exited the store and entered a gray Toyota Camry. The vehicle left the parking lot and failed to stop at the stop sign at Register Road and at Gordon Highway.

Using security footage to obtain photos, a deputy identified the male as Jacob Garner. Garner’s identity was also confirmed using Eagle. Law enforcement made contact with Jacob Garner and his wife, Lindsey Garner, who were wearing the same clothing as seen in the Dollar General footage. Garner admitted to taking three packs of Pokémon cards and stated he did not intend to take the cards but was rushed by his wife, who needed to use the restroom. He further stated that Lindsey Garner was unaware of the theft and was not involved. The deputy located numerous Pokémon cards, baseball cards, and other trading cards in the back seat of the vehicle, along with several opened packages.

A warrant for theft by shoplifting was secured for Jacob Garner.

Woman tries to false scan items

On Oct. 9, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. Lindsey Irish was observed using another ticket to scan a plush animal that did not match the price for what she was in possession of. She then scanned two other curtains that did not match the price continued to scan items this way. Irish paid a total of $76.44 for the items instead of the actual price of $552.18. Irish was placed under arrest without further incident and charged with felony theft by shoplifting.

Copper stolen from appliance store

On Oct. 9, law enforcement was dispatched to Chambers Appliance Sales and Repair, at 2927 N. Columbia St., in reference to theft of copper. Ronald Chambers stated a 5-gallon bucket full of copper wire that had been located outside the shop was taken. Chambers estimated the value of the copper wire at $20. Chambers was able to provide video footage and the thief was identified as Jimmy Reynolds. One warrant was secured on Reynolds for theft by taking.

Woman returns to trespassed property

On Oct. 10, law enforcement was dispatched to Rocky Creek Apartments, 240 E. Thomas St., in reference to a subject trespassing. Jennifer Ayers, who had been evicted and ultimately trespassed from the location earlier that day, was back on the property. Ayers was observed walking up the driveway of the apartment complex with a backpack and carrying a purse. Ayers stated she was getting belongings out of her vehicle in the parking lot. Ayers was placed under arrest, and her purse was searched incident to arrest. While searching Ayers’ purse, a glass pipe with a bowl on the end with burnt residue was located inside.

Ayers stated the glass pipe was not hers.

Ayers was transported to the Baldwin County jail and warrants for criminal trespass and drug related objects were issued.
