Driver damages service center door frames

On Sept. 4, law enforcement was dispatched to 2818 N. Columbia St.in reference to a hit and run. The service manager stated a large van pulled up to the service center entrance at Milledgeville CDJR. The driver drove through the service bay and struck the top frame of the first bay door with the roof area of the vehicle. They continued through the bay and exited out the second bay door, at which point, the top of the vehicle struck the top of that door frame. Surveillance footage of the incident showed the van had no visible damages prior to entering the service bay area.

The driver was contacted via phone and stated she had been at the dealership, but stated that she did not know she struck anything with her van. The driver came back to the service center and the manager informed her that someone was coming tomorrow to estimate the cost of the repairs and asked if she would be willing to handle the damages directly, instead of going through her insurance.

As of the newspaper’s deadline, the agreement had gone through.

Driver arrested for marijuana possession

On Sept. 5, law enforcement was patrolling Hancock Street when an officer observed a Toyota Corolla with inoperable tag lights. The officer stopped the driver, identified as Christopher Smith, on North Irwin Street. The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle.

Smith stated he had two smoked marijuana blunts in his jacket pocket. During a search of Smith’s person, a bag of suspected marijuana was found in his front pant’s pocket. Another bag was also found in his car’s center console. A warrant for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana was secured against Smith.

Drunk man punches caretaker On Sept. 8, law enforcement was dispatched to 129 Lata Terrace in reference to an altercation that had already occurred. Gene Young stated he has been staying at this location, helping to take care of someone. Young stated while he was inside the residence, Christopher Petroski arrived at the location and began banging on the house. Petroski was intoxicated and was threatening to 'beat up' Young. Young stated once the door was opened, Petroski pushed him and punched him on the right side of his face. The officer did not observe any visible injuries to Young's face. After Young was punched, he left the location and went to the sheriff's office to separate himself from Petroski. Law enforcement located Petroski at the residence and Petroski informed them there was no incident. The homeowner trespassed Petroski and the man being cared for stated he did see Petroski punch Young. During the transport and while at the jail, Petroski threatened law enforcement. Warrants for simple battery and terroristic threats were sworn against Petroski.
