Driver caught with marijuana
On Sept. 2, while patrolling the area North Columbia Street and Heritage Place, an officer observed a red Nissan Altima traveling south on North Columbia Street.
The Nissan Altima’s driver’s side tail light was not working. The driver, later identified as Meghan Wiler, stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of the Heritage Inn.
Wiler stated she did not have her driver’s license on her person. Wiler provided the name of “Megan Wiler” first but then stated two other possible last names, along with multiple birth dates.
Wiler advised she previously lived in Texas and North Dakota. Dispatch advised no driver was found using any combination of names in Georgia, Texas, or North Dakota.
Dispatch eventually confirmed her true name to be Meghan Wiler and Wiler stated she has lived in Milledgeville since January of 2025 but has not attempted to obtain a Georgia driver’s license.
After Wiler was placed in the back of the patrol vehicle, the officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the back seat.
During a rear seat contraband check on the patrol vehicle, the officer located a tightly wrapped cigar containing a green leafy like substance believed to be marijuana laying in the floorboard where Wiler had been sitting. Wiler was given citations for tail light maintenance and driving while unlicensed. Warrants for giving false name and date of birth and possession of marijuana less than one ounce were secured for Wiler.
