Male falls unconscious after being punched

On April 24, law enforcement was performing a foot patrol near Ned Kelly’s when an officer noticed a large group of people yelling and running in the area of South Wayne Street and Greene Street. The officer noticed a male lying on the ground bleeding from his face. Two subjects were tending to the male on the ground and stated the injured male was attacked by a group of people that were seen fleeing the area on East Greene Street. The officer relayed this information to other officers who quickly found the group near St. Stephens Church. The officer then spoke with one of the subjects by the victim who stated it was his older brother. The younger brother and a friend explained that the victim had an argument with a group of males and two females across the street. The group then approached them, and one of the males knocked a drink from the victim’s hand to which the victim yelled at the male and was then “sucker punched” by a large, bearded male in a black shirt. Another witness gave the officer the same description of events. EMS was called to the scene due to the victim being unconscious and bleeding from his face and head. Other officers were able to catch the group seen fleeing the area and escorted them back to the incident scene. The brother of the victim identified the offender, Trey Bonner, from the group. Bonner was then placed under arrest for battery.
