Law enforcement responded to a theft on Feb. 26 after Wayne Grant and his girlfriend Lachanda Bolston allegedly broke into his sister’s home, attacked her and stole $2,000.
Tiffany Lawrence was reportedly having a birthday for her daughter with Grant, her boyfriend, Matthew Dennis, and Bolston at the residence, cooking food on the grill.
After the party, Grant and Bolston left but they reportedly returned later that evening. Grant kicked the front door open, causing damage to the door and door frame. Lawrence stated Grant came inside, pushed her onto the ground, and began hitting her in the face with closed fists.
Boltson reportedly pulled at her wig and pulled it off.
Grant and Bolston were reported to be fighting with Lawrence over her purse and reportedly took $2,000 cash from her purse while she was holding it by the shoulder strap. Lawrence reported they also stole her wallet and that during the altercation her Phillips 32” TV ($200) was damaged along with a brown table ($40) it was sitting on. Reportedly, after the altercation was over, Grant brandished a silver-handled pistol toward Lawrence and stated if she called the police, he would come back and end her and Dennis.
Law enforcement observed Lawrence’s bottom teeth were missing and she had fresh blood on her clothes from where she bled from her mouth. Lawrence refused to be seen by EMS personnel multiple times. Dennis confirmed Lawrence’s story and admitted to fighting Grant to protect Lawrence. Reportedly, Dennis was punched multiple times in the face, though the report notes no visible injuries.
Law enforcement also spoke to a neighbor on the scene who reported not seeing any fighting but hearing arguing next door. The neighbor’s Ring camera showed footage of Grant’s vehicle in the driveway during the party and its return, supported by Dennis’ earlier statement.
On the video, Lawrence could also be seen knocking on the neighbor’s door with blood coming from her mouth. The neighbor also stated he stood in the doorway when Grant and Bolston left and that Grant apologized to him for the loud noise they caused.
Sgt. Thomas located the offenders’ vehicle parked in front of building 6 at Riverbend Apartments unoccupied and held a perimeter in case Grant and Bolston returned to the vehicle.
Grant is charged with home invasion in the first degree, criminal trespass and aggravated battery. Bolston is charged with aggravated battery, home invasion and criminal trespass. A detective also advised additional charges for possession of firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes may be applicable, pending results of the search warrant of the vehicle and apartment.
