Most recently posting an 86-32 score over Spalding on Tuesday, the Baldwin Braves extended their win streak to five after previously beating North Augusta, Howard, Perry, and Washington counties.
The North Augusta game in the MLK Classic last Monday at Cross Creek High School was the closest among Baldwin’s latest matchups with a 76-67 final, while the Braves dominated all four of their following games.
A visit to Howard on Jan. 16 led to a 60-35 decision in favor of the Braves, followed by a trio of scores in the 80s over the team’s latest home stand.
Baldwin hosted Perry and Washington counties last week and posted 82-56 and 87-59 wins, respectively, while this Tuesday’s tilt with Spalding resulted in a dominating 86-32 win for the home team.
In the Perry game, Baldwin held a slight three-point 12-9 lead after the opening quarter but stretched the lead out to 13 with a 34-21 score at the half.
A dominating 28-point third quarter put the game well in hand for the Braves, led by a great performance from senior Isaiah Dennis shooting 60% from the field and posting a team-leading 34 points.
Baldwin’s Tremarius Lawrence led in assists with seven, with Quentrell Wells and Omari Woodard tied for the lead in rebounds with four.
In the Braves’ Friday game last week, they faced Washington County at home and built up a solid lead of 27-15 in the first quarter, then extended that to 46-29 at halftime.
The second half was a rout as well, as Baldwin went on to win 87-59 behind another teamleading, 25-point performance by Dennis, as well as 15 from Deven Nelson and 13 by Karez Demory. Lawrence had another great night rebounding, too, grabbing eight on the night.
Finally, Baldwin hosted region rival Spalding on Tuesday this week and gave another dominating 86-32 performance, this time led by 27 points from Lawrence, 18 from Demory, and 15 points scored by Dennis.
Next, Baldwin will visit the Griffin Bears Friday night in Griffin before a quick turnaround back home to host St. Anne-Pacelli this Saturday.
