Cathy Freeman Settle, the fifth-longest tenured tax commissioner in the state of Georgia, passed away last Friday following a hard-fought bout with cancer.
The visitation is scheduled for 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Moores Funeral Home. The service, meanwhile, is set for Monday at 11 a.m. at Freedom Church.
Burial will follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Settle worked in the Tax Commissioner’s Office for 35 years. Her first boss was her father, Harold Freeman, who was the tax commissioner at the time.
Freeman then became Baldwin County’s tax commissioner after her father passed away.
Freeman was a 1980 graduate of John Milledge Academy, and she loved her family and loved the Georgia Bulldogs.
Survivors include her daughter, Caitlin A.
Olliff of North Augusta, S.C., her son, Colton D.
Settle of Milledgeville, as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
