The Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District (PSWCD), a local agency dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of the area’s natural resources, is now accepting entries for its annual poster contest, limited to 3rd through 5th-grade students within the District’s service area.
This includes Putnam, Baldwin, Greene, Jones, Morgan, Taliaferro, and Hancock counties.
The PSWCD considers education to be a critical element of the conservation effort at the local, state, and national levels.
Educating young people about the benefits of conservation helps to ensure the next generation will be wise stewards of America’s natural resources.
The annual PSWCD Poster Contest is open to all public, private, and homeschooled students in the counties and grades listed above. Entrants also will have the chance to have their art selected to advance to the state contest.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners.
Each year, the poster topic reflects the National Association of Conservation Districts’ annual stewardship theme and highlights the work of regional Conservation Districts to protect and enhance natural resources. This year’s theme is: “Soil.
Where it all Begins.” It is intended to celebrate the incredible power of soil to support life in all forms and as the starting point for healthy food, clean water, thriving habitats, and resilient communities.
The contest entry deadline is March 6, 2026, with more information and entry forms available at gacd.us/piedmont.
