Man arrested for shots fired in Wray Homes area

At approximately 9:15 p.m., on Sept. 1, Milledgeville Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Wray Homes in reference to multiple 911 calls of shots fired.

While checking the area, officers located multiple witnesses in the 400 block of Earnest Byner Street who stated while sitting outside they were approached by a male subject with a firearm who began shooting at them. One of the victims, who was lawfully carrying a firearm, returned fire in self-defense. While returning fire, the victim was then shot at by several more subjects.

Detectives responded and immediately began processing the scene and interviewing witnesses.  As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Travion Antwan Butts, 18, as one of the shooters. Butts has been arrested and charged with six counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
