FOOTBALL’SBACK!

Around here, high school football is always one of the first signs of autumn, a reminder that these 98-degree temperatures won’t last forever. The John Milledge Academy Trojans kicked off the 2026 season last Friday night with a 31-7 win over old rival Brentwood in Sandersville. JMA has now won 12-out-of-13 in the series, and 10 of those victories have been by at least three touchdowns. Now it’s Part 2 of Milledgeville vs. Sandersville, as Baldwin hosts Washington County on Friday night at Braves Stadium. Meanwhile, Georgia Military College Prep heads south to the thriving metropolis of Willacoochee to take on Atkinson County. The Prep Dawgs will have to wait a few more weeks before showing off the new and shiny field turf at Davenport Field in their home opener Sept. 4 vs. McIntosh County.
