You would never think that a spot of red clay in the midst of humble folks would intersect in the hot, dusty desert land of Palm Springs, California, a well-known enclave of rich and famous. But, somehow, I keep finding my way there.

GMC hosts full day of events in honor of veterans

Georgia Military College hosted its annual Veterans Day events last Friday. Friday morning began with GMC Prep elementary’s students welcoming veterans in their PAW-sitively Thankful Walk-Thru. Veterans walked through Jenkins Hall with students cheering them on.

BCSD names Teacher of the Year

On Thursday, Nov. 10th, the Baldwin County School District held its annual District Teacher of the Year Banquet in the Magnolia Ballroom at Georgia College. Oak Hill Middle School science teacher Susan Curtis is the 2023 BCSD Teacher of the Year.

GCSU celebrates 133 years with Charter Day Nov. 8

GCSU alumni and students celebrated 133 years of GCSU during Charter Day on Nov. 8. “Charter Day is a commemoration to the day that the legislature authorized the creation of our college. At that time the college was known as Georgia Normal and Industrial College,” said Bob Wilson, GCSU historian.

Georgia Department of Corrections van wrecks on Highway 212

This morning a Georgia Department of Corrections Transport van and another vehicle were involved in a crash on Highway 212.  “The passenger vehicle was traveling west on Highway 212 just south of Old Plantation Trail road.
