Originally from Cochran, 26-year-old Daniella Pittman has been a Milledgeville resident for seven years, where she found the perfect place to prioritize peace and foster her professional career.
“I like the fact that it’s smaller than where I grew up, and there are things to do, but it’s quiet, especially where I live. It’s a nice, quaint neighborhood, but I like how it’s in between," said Pittman. "It’s not too big, it’s not too small, and it has everything you need.”
After graduating from Bleckley County High School in 2015, Pittman spent her freshman year of college at Middle Georgia State University, where she met her husband, Tyler Pittman.
She moved to Milledgeville for her sophomore year of college and attended Georgia College & State University. She worked as a student assistant at the Career Center, where she still works today, and graduated with a degree in liberal studies, focusing on communication, English, and psychology.
“I like the environment of working with college students…I thought I wanted to work with kids and then working in this capacity with the students at the Career Center I liked the college range,” said Pittman. “I had a lot of good people that talked me through the higher education experience.”
Although Pittman has not spent her whole life in Baldwin County, she has been able to witness changes in the community.
“If anything, I feel like the downtown life has grown…involvement and specifically community involvement with Georgia College I think has improved since I’ve been here, and it is growing. There are more businesses here than even when I started," said Pittman.
When she isn’t working, Pittman enjoys gardening, home improvement, going to concerts, and eating at her favorite restaurant in Milledgeville, Bollywood. She also loves attending community events.
“If downtown is doing something, I try to be there. My favorites are either Deep Roots or the Food Trucks and Flannels First Friday,” said Pittman.
Pittman and her husband were married in October 2023 and enjoy a quaint life together with their three beloved dogs, Winchester, Valentina, and Arabella.
“I heavily watch the Humane Society in Milledgeville. I have a strong interest in that and if they need things I try to donate because there are a lot of stray dogs in Milledgeville," said Pittman.
Pittman is currently set to graduate with her master’s in public administration in December, and she looks forward to seeing where her life takes her.
“I see myself working in something to do with event planning and employer relations," said Pittman. "I feel like that’s where my passions lie. I’m just going where things take me. I’m trying to move toward the motto of taking it one day at a time and seeing what happens."
