Baldwin High School celebrated National Letter of Intent (NLI) Signing Day on Wednesday evening, February 4th, recognizing three student-athletes who committed to play collegiate football while continuing their academic careers.
The ceremony, held in the James A. Lunsford Gymnasium, honored London Blash, who signed to Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, Kielan Walker, who signed to Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO, and Jalen King, who signed to Mississippi Valley State University in Leflore County, MS. Each player signed their NLI in front of family, teammates, coaches, and school leadership. Coach Kevin Patterson, as well as friends, family, and the players themselves, spoke on the students’ behalf.
Athletic Director Coach Dexter Ricks said the event reflects the collective effort behind each student’s success.
“This day is about these young men and their families,” Ricks said.
“It’s a celebration of perseverance and commitment, and it’s important that we recognize the work that led them here,” he said.
Principal Markeeta Clayton highlighted the leadership and resilience demonstrated by the signees throughout their high school careers.
“They never gave up, regardless of circumstances,” Clayton said.
“That perseverance is what will serve them well at the next level.”
