GMC hosts Memorial Day Parade

Georgia Military College hosted their Memorial Day Parade on Friday, May 13. Memorial Day is a day for remembrance of those who have died in service to our country. Annually, GMC hosts a Memorial Day Parade to honor these lives and bring the community together for this occasion.

Church Central gives out thousands of articles of clothing for free

Church Central hosted a free yard sale that gave away thousands of clothes to the Milledgeville community. “Being generous is a part of what God has called us to do as believers,” said Jeff Simmons, pastor of Church Central.

Most everyone enjoys a good oxymoron--jumbo shrimp, civil war, family vacation, or Greater Cleveland! Most oxymorons tend to be clever and funny, even if they are not always completely accurate. They can also help tell a story. Kristine Anderson’s novel, “Crooked Truth,” is such a title.

My back porch

Traditionally, a house without a porch would be like having a car without a radio. I spent the early part of my youth in a rambling house which had a rust red tin roof and a porch that meandered halfway round the house.

The Artisans Village hosts open house for Livery Studio

The Artisans Village hosted an open house event for the newly renovated Livery Studio on April 30. A few months prior to the event, a few members from the Lifers Car Club asked if they could host their club at the Livery Studio for a Hot Rods & Pinups photoshoot.

GCSU dance minors teach dance to local primary and middle schools

GCSU dance minors in the dance pedagogy class are offering free dance lessons twice a week in Baldwin’s primary and middle schools. Community dance has been a part of the university’s outreach program for at least 20 years.
