Deep Roots double sales for Miles of Styles

Milledgeville’s annual Deep Root’s Festival is more than just food and music, it is also an economic stimulus for businesses. “Deep Roots is our best day of the entire year, and it kicks off the holiday season,” said Carlee Shculte, event organizer.

Best in Show amazes competition at Deep Roots Car Show

Milledgeville hosted its annual car show, sponsored by the old capital car club, Oct. 19 during the Deep Roots Festival. The show went from 9:00 AM to noon, with beautiful, classic cars lining Wayne and Greene Streets.

English devotes herself to Deep Roots Festival

Amber English grew up with Deep Roots and has volunteered with the city’s premier music and arts festival for more than a decade.“To me, Deep Roots means the one day of the year that Milledgeville- Baldwin County can shine and show how much we love our city and our town,” English said.

Steak-Off sizzles during battle for grilling glory

On Saturday, Oct. 19, Milledgeville hosted its annual Deep Roots festival, which featured the third annual Steak-Off competition. Locals and out-of-towners gathered to cook for judges, aiming to take home a cash prize and bragging rights for the year.

The Cookie Company: A local favorite at festival

The Cookie Company, owned by Kaitlin Tollison, is a popular bakery in Milledgeville known for its wide variety of fresh cookies and baked goods. It’s located in the Milledgeville Mall between Belk and Maurices.

Retired nurse recognized for lifetime of service

A retired nurse who lives at Fellowship at Meriweather in Baldwin County was recognized for her years of service to the profession in a ceremony last week.

A mural painted by about 50 students in Georgia College & State University’s Department of Art was unveiled Oct. 17 in the Peyton Cook Building at Central State Hospital (CSH).

Lockerly Arboretum debuts first art exhibit

Lockerly Arboretum has become decorated with its first ever art exhibit for the holiday season. Forest Forms, by Huelani Mei, comprises 18 sculptures ranging from five feet to 20 feet tall depicting flora and fauna.“An exhibit like this is rare for the size of our community.
