Georgia College & State University’s High Achievers program held its “Lights on Afterschool” celebration Oct. 26 as part of a nationwide initiative to highlight the benefits and accomplishments of middle and high school after-school programs.

Death After Dark: The Death Industry of the 19th Century

Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion hosts Death After Dark each October, allowing people to tour the mansion by candlelight after usual hours to learn about legends, death, mourning practices, and more from the 19th century.Docents in mourning attire lead three different tours on the chosen night.

Rooted in community: Deep Roots 22nd anniversary

The Deep Roots Festival returned Oct. 18 for its 22nd year in downtown Milledgeville. The annual event remained free to attend, giving visitors access to an artisan market, car show, concert stage, and family-friendly activities.
