A new spotlight is shining in the heart of Georgia. On Aug.1, the Milledgeville Theatre Collective (MTC) launched as the region’s newest performing arts organization, dedicated to cultivating bold, collaborative, and inclusive theatrical experiences for performers, partners, and patrons alike.
Founded by a team of passionate educators, performers, and community leaders, MTC is built on the belief that high-quality theater thrives when professionalism and community go hand in hand.
“We are creating a space where collaboration is not just encouraged — it’s essential,” said MTC President Rebecca Brasher. “Every project we produce will reflect the care, intention, and artistry of the people who shape it.”
MTC will operate as a nonprofit collaborative with a seasonal mix of mainstage productions, youth programming, and pop-up performance events designed to meet audiences where they are — in theaters, churches, parks, and beyond.
Key pillars of the organization include:
• Community-drivenprogramming that reflects diverse voices and stories
• Educationandmentorship for performers, directors, and tech artists of all ages
• Strategicpartnershipswith local businesses and other local nonprofits MTC will unveil its inaugural season lineup this semester, beginning with “Father of the Bride,” Oct. 2-4, which is a mainstage production in partnership with the new local wedding venue, Woodland Acres at Robbins Farm.
Future programming also includes a holiday partnership with New City Church at The Mill for “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” on Dec. 11-12.
“We’re building a culture of artistic integrity and mutual respect,” said Brasher. “Whether you’re a veteran performer, a student, or someone who’s never set foot on stage, you’ll find a place here.”
The Milledgeville Theatre Collective invites community members to join as performers, volunteers, donors, and dreamers. Those interested can visit milledgevilletheatre.org or follow @millytheatrecollective on social media for updates, auditions, and events.
