Christmas came early to downtown Milledgeville July 20 at Milledgeville Main Street’s Christmas in July market.
With over 30 vendors, The Annex and its parking lot, located at 127 E. Hancock St., were brimming with life as customers strolled through the tables of local artists. From 3-D printed creatures to baked goods, the market hosted an assortment of hand-made and well-loved products for sale.
For example, PJs Woodland Soaps had a large amount of traffic with people smelling the variety of handmade soaps. Owner Patricia James makes each of the soaps herself and has been creating recipes since 2014. She names each soap according to the scent it produces. Each bar was hand wrapped with labels describing the name and scent attached that James created.
Local artist Elena Walters hosted a larger table of crocheted bags, stuffed animals, decorations, and more. Known as the ‘Crazy Crocheter,’ Walters sells her creations at many of the local events hosted by Milledgeville Main Street. Each of her items is made with a careful hand, a small bit of inspiration, and a dose of love for the art of crocheting.
Jonathan Pettner is a modern artist who creates 3D models.
His table was a miniature fantasy land decorated with many different sized dragons, a dice roller, and other creations.
His company is JP3D, where he makes custom 3D prints.
His assortment and logo are heavily inspired by the popular role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
These artists were only a few among many others that came together to show pride in their work, connect with potential customers, and share enjoyment in the process of creation. Just as Santa spends each year making toys for every good girl and boy, these artists work year-round to make something that those in the local community and beyond can find joy in.
