More Info: David Drake was an enslaved Black potter in South Carolina who produced stoneware jugs inscribed with original poetry in a time when this knowledge was a punishable offense. A second gallery installation features ceramic work by contemporary artist Zipporah Camille Thompson of Atlanta. Her work fuses old and new, referencing ancient cultures and millennial predilections.
