What: GMC Memorial Day One-Mile Run/Walk with Cadets When: Arrive by 5:50 a.m., Run starts 6 a.m. Where: GMC Track & Field Complex, adjacent to Greenway More info: Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate, as well as any community members who want to watch and support. The one-mile run/walk is in honor of the 88 GMC alumni who lost their lives while serving their country from WWI to the global war on terror.

What: GMC Memorial Day Parade When: 8 a.m. Where: Grant Parade Field,201 E. Greene St., Milledgeville More info: Join the GMC community in honoring heroes we lost and GMC servant leaders. This is the last parade of the 2022 2023 academic year. Senator Blake Tillery, who represents Georgia’s 19th district and serves as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee will be the keynote speaker.

What: Kids Fishing Event When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Where: Hwy 441 South, 1534 Irwinton Road More info: Over 1,000 catfish have been stocked in Lockerly’s pond.

Some are BIG & are waiting for you to catch them! For children 16 and under. One adult per two children. Lockerly provides hotdogs for bait, but you can bring worms if you prefer. Bring your own rods, reels, tackle, stringer or bucket. Take home up to five fish per child.

What: Wine in the Woods When: 5 - 7 p.m. Where: Lockerly Arboretum, 1534 Irwinton Rd., MIlledgeville More Info: Enjoy a lovely evening on the grounds of Lockerly as the new pollinator garden is showcased. Tickets are $15 for members, $30 for non-members. Call (478) 452-2112 for more information.

What: Youth Tennis Camp - Session 1 When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: Tennis Courts at Centennial Center More info: Camp sessions are ages 5-17 and designed for all levels of play and will consist of comprehensive instruction, physical conditioning and match play. In addition, each camper will receive at least three hours of small group instruction per day. What: Kids’ University at Georgia College When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Mon-Fri) Where: Georgia College West Campus More info: Summer just wouldn’t be the same without the excitement and adventure of Kids’ University! This year, the spirit and tradition of Kids’ University day camp continues with a summer full of games, outdoor fun, swimming, arts and crafts, and new friendships. Campers will have daily opportunities to learn and have incredible amounts of FUN through learning, exploratory, and recreational activities. What: Daylily Show When: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Where: Baldwin County Rec. Dept. Banquet room on Highway 22 More info: The Central Georgia Daylily Club will hold its annual Daylily Show. The show is sanctioned by the American Hemerocallis Society and will be judged by certified trained judges from out of the county. Only registered daylilies can be entered in a certified show. Go to daylilies.org to check the name of your daylily to certify if it is registered. Entries are accepted from 7-10:30 a.m. Judging will begin at 11 a.m. The show will be open to the public from 1-4 p.m. A limited number of daylily plants will be for sale. What: Peewee Basketball Camp When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: GC Wellness Center More info: Open to ages 5-12, this fun camp is designed for developing young players who want to improve their basketball skills and learn the rules of the game. The morning sessions will involve learning skills for all levels of players while the afternoons are filled with actual games. We will also be going to the pool, so don’t forget a swimsuit and towel. What: Songwriting Camp When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Where: Health Sciences Movement Lab More info: Open to musicians of all levels, this program will give campers the opportunity to express themselves through songwriting. They will get to learn basic songwriting techniques and how to use digital audio workstations and MIDI programming and recording. Camp is open for 5th through 8th graders and costs $200. Madison Ave., Eatonton More Info: Girls K-4 through 12th grade will be participating in this year’s Eatonton Service League & Dairy Festival Queen Pageant, sponsored by the Pilot Club. Cash prizes awarded to grades 9-12 of $1000, $500, and $250. Winners will ride on floats in the Dairy Festival parade through Eatonton June 3, during the Dairy Festival.
