What: Le Pied Du Mont Boucherie When: Recurring daily Where: Comfort Farms (347 Horace Veal Rd Nw) More info: The Le Pied Du Mont Boucherie festival is a multi-day educational event, designed to bring the community together to witness the craft of our butchers, farmers, and chefs who work together throughout the growing season to prepare seasonal and delicious meals from local, sustainable and organic sources.

What: Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Training When: 1-4 p.m. Where: Lakeview Academy, 220 N/ ABC St., Milledgeville More info: CASA will hold a new volunteer training class beginning Jan. 18, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. at Lakeview Academy in Milledgeville. The nine required training sessions will be held every Monday and Wednesday through February 15. CASA volunteers serve as a voice for children in foster care. What: Hoop Shoot Free-Throw Contest When: 1 p.m. Where: Putnam County Recreation Center, 140 Recreation Park Rd, Eatonton

More info: The Eatonton Elks Lodge #2549 will host its annual basketball free-throw contest for boys and girls aged 8-13 at the Putnam County Recreation Center. Free registration at the Rec. Center the day of the contest, prior to scheduled start. Winners will have the opportunity to advance to regional, state and national competitions.

What: Grief Support Meeting When: 7-8 p.m. Where: Peaceful Purpose Hospice of Georgia (meeting at Putnam Chamber of Commerce office, 108 W. Marion St., Eatonton).

What: “I’ve Finished Writing, Now What?” Workshop When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Where: Georgia Writers Museum, 109 South Jefferson St., Eatonton More Info: The workshop, taught by the BookLogix staff, will be divided into two sessions. Session One will be 60 minutes and focus on the 10 mistakes authors often make when publishing a book—from preparing the manuscript to marketing. Session Two will be 90 minutes and cover the basics of bookselling and marketing. Fee for one session is $30; fee for both sessions is $55. What: Putnam General Hospital Auxiliary Soup Luncheon When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: Eatonton First United Methodist Church, 103 W. Magnolia St., Eatonton More info: PGH Auxiliary members are volunteers who support the hospital through various fundraising events and by occasionally donating their time in the operating room suites and physical rehab facilities. What: First Day Hike When: 11 a.m to 1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. Where: 5 Hard Labor Creek Rd, Rutledge More info: Ranger-led hike will take visitors along gentle ridges and cascading creeks at Hard Labor Creek State Park. Start the New Year off right with a 2-mile, moderate to rigorous, scenic hike geared toward active adults and children over 8 years old. Limited to 20 hikers each session. Pre-registration required by 5 p.m. Dec. 31. Please specify which hike you plan to attend. Bring water, snacks, comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Arrive to the park 15-20 minutes prior to the event, as we will caravan to the starting point. Please be on time as we will not wait for tardy attendees. Hike admission: $3; parking fee: $5.
