This program is nationally recognized and accepted by the Georgia Department of Community Health, and the certification is valid for five years. What: “Peg Leg” Howell BBQ & Blues Festival When: 2-10 p.m. Where: City Center Stage, Eatonton More info: Join the City of Eatonton for the inaugural “Peg Leg” Howell BBQ & Blues Festival. Joshua “Peg Leg” Howell was born in Eatonton in 1888 and at age 21, taught himself to play guitar. In 1926, his song, “New Prison Blues,” became the first country blues record ever to be issued by Columbia Records. Howell died in 1966 at the age 78, in Atlanta. This free event will feature a full day of live blues music, along with authentic BBQ.
