What: COFAS Spay/Neuter Clinic When: 8:30 a.m. check in Where: Durham Veterinary Clinic, 1901 Old Eatonton Rd., Greensboro More info: The Circle of Friends Animal Society (COFAS) periodically offers low-cost spay/neuter clinics for cats and dogs to residents of Putnam, Greene and Hancock counties only. The owner’s portion for surgery is $30 per cat and $50 per dog, with COFAS paying the remainder. What: Inaugural Mardi Gras on Main When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Where: Downtown Greensboro More Info: Downtown Greensboro merchants will be open beginning at 10 a.m. for shopping and dining. Participating merchants will be handing out Mardi Gras beads, to be collected by patrons and used as entry into drawings for various prizes from GBA merchants and event sponsors. Many shops and businesses will also have Mardi Gras-themed snacks available throughout the day, as well as shopping specials and more.
Also features a Jambalaya and Gumbo Cook-off with cooking beginning at 8 a.m., tasting at 12 p.m. and awards presented at 3 p.m. Professional and amateur chefs are invited to participate and guests are encouraged to come taste and vote on the best jambalaya and gumbo.
