What: ServSafe Food Safety Management Certification When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Where: Chappell Hall 113 More info: Not just for managers, this full course is also for owners, operators, F&B directors, chefs, line cooks, kitchen managers, dietary managers, dietitians, and anyone else who needs food safety training and certification. This program is nationally recognized and accepted by the Georgia Department of Community Health, and the certification is valid for five years. The fee is $135 and includes instruction and a paper exam. The deadline to register is May 5.

What: GriefShare Small Group: Loss of a Spouse When: 6:30-8 p.m. Where: New Life Ministries, 385 Log Cabin Drive, Milledgeville More info: Everyone in our community who is coping with the loss of a loved one is welcome to participate in New Life’s on campus Grief Ministry. We use GriefShare materials, along with small group sharing and workbooks to help in your grief journey.

What: Kids Fishing Event When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Where: Hwy 441 South, 1534 Irwinton Road More info: Over 1,000 catfish have been stocked in Lockerly’s pond. Some are BIG & are waiting for you to catch them!

For children ages 16 and under. One adult per two children. Lockerly provides hotdogs for bait, but you can bring worms if you prefer. Bring your own rods, reels, tackle, stringer or bucket. Take home up to 5 fish per child!

What: Creature Camp: Newborn & Nesting When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

More info: We will search the woods and the waters for baby animals of all sorts, grow a few of our own, learn all about their life cycles, why they look the way they do and what to do if we find one. What: Songwriting Camp When: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Where: Health Sciences Movement Lab More info: Open to musicians of all levels, this program will give campers the opportunity to express themselves through songwriting! They will get to learn basic songwriting techniques and how to use Digital Audio Workstations and MIDI programming and recording. Camp is open for fifth through eighth graders and costs $200. Where: The Plaza Arts Center, Eatonton More info: The state of Georgia’s music history is as rich as its fertile, black soil. Hear the Georgia Players Guild take listeners on a journey of music in Sounds of Georgia, performing the music of Little Richard, Ray Charles, The Allman Brothers, R.E.M., the B-52s, Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt, among others. Madison Ave., Eatonton More Info: Girls K-4 through 12th grade will be participating in this year’s Eatonton Service League & Dairy Festival Queen Pageant, sponsored by the Pilot Club. Cash prizes awarded to grades 9-12 of $1000, $500, and $250. Winners will ride on floats in the Dairy Festival parade through Eatonton June 3, during the Dairy Festival.

What: Putnam County Dairy Festival and Parade When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Where: Putnam County Courthouse lawn, 100 S. Jefferson Ave., Eatonton More info: Hosted by the Pilot Club of Eatonton, the annual Putnam County Dairy Festival is a tribute to the dairy industry and local dairy families, acknowledging Putnam County as a leading dairy county in Georgia. The parade through the streets of downtown Eatonton will begin at 10 a.m. at the Putnam County Primary School. Vendors and games will dot the courthouse lawn, with barbeque available and free live music.
