Baldwin High celebrates graduates

Baldwin High School (BHS) proudly announced the successful graduation of its Class of 2023, in a ceremony May 27, held at Braves Stadium in Milledgeville. The graduation event featured inspiring speeches by Valedictorian Elaine Abella and Salutatorian Xuan Yang, and included a special tribute to Syee Havior, a student tragically lost in February this year.

The BHS Class of 2023 saw about 65 percent of its graduates choose to continue their education at two or four-year colleges, while approximately 30 percent of the graduating students decided to enter the workforce, equipped with the knowledge and skills gained during their time at Baldwin High School. The remaining five percent of graduates decided to serve our country by enlisting in the military.

A remarkable accomplishment of the Class of 2023 was the earning of 3,736 college credits through the dual-enrollment option, a testament to their academic prowess and commitment to higher education.

Also, 20 graduating students had already earned 31 associate’s degrees at Georgia Military College and Central Georgia Technical College, showcasing an exceptional dedication to academic excellence.

Last school year, BHS had a graduation rate of 88.5%, surpassing the state average, a testament to the commitment of the school’s faculty and staff, as well as the perseverance of its students.

As the BHS graduates move forward, school officials said they are confident the Class of 2023 will continue to make significant contributions to its local community, the State of Georgia, the United States and the world at large.
