‘Heartbreaker’ for Braves in semifinal vs. North Oconee

Baldwin’s season ended in the worst possible way, losing at the buzzer to North Oconee in the Class AAAA semifinal. The Titans topped the Braves 65-64 when sophomore forward Khamari Brooks sunk a put-back layup in the net.

Braves survive first-round scare, make up for it in Sweet 16

Baldwin boys’ basketball began its playoff run last week against Southeast Bulloch, surviving a 59-54 scare. The Braves ran into foul trouble, with several players fouling out, but managed to grind out a win over the Jackets.

Baldwin boys finish 22-2; clinch region regular-season title

The Baldwin boys’ basketball team captured the Region 2 4A title last Tuesday with a comeback win at home over Macon’s Westside Seminoles.The Braves had a surprisingly slow start at home versus Westside, finding themselves down by double digits several times in the first half.

Braves beat Bears in ‘nailbiter’ match

Baldwin boys’ basketball extended its win streak to six this past week with the team’s 19th win of the season. The Braves handed Spalding a crushing 86-32 loss at home last Tuesday before visiting region rival Griffin on Friday.

Baldwin on a mid-season bull run

Most recently posting an 86-32 score over Spalding on Tuesday, the Baldwin Braves extended their win streak to five after previously beating North Augusta, Howard, Perry, and Washington counties.

Baldwin coach pleased the Braves are doing well

Baldwin head coach Ben Smith isn’t surprised to see his team having so much success in his first year. The former Dublin head coach stepped in for Anthony Webb during the offseason and has added to the foundation that his predecessor left.

Braves top Wesleyan after action-packed week

Baldwin boys’ basketball capped off an action-packed week with a close victory over Wesleyan last Saturday at the inaugural Hoop Atlanta Holiday Classic at Peachtree Ridge High School. The Braves topped the Wolves 52-47, led by senior Tremarius Lawrence, who came alive in the fourth quarter.

Great start for Braves basketball

The Baldwin Braves boys’ basketball team improved to 4-0 with their most recent win at home on Dec. 8 over the Howard Huskies from Macon. The Braves won 77-53 over the visiting Huskies to add to their wins over Morrow, Central (Macon) and Southwest (Macon).

New Braves coach counts on continued success

Baldwin boys’ basketball is being led by a new head coach this season, but the expectations are on the team. Ben Smith, who was hired away from Dublin High School earlier this year, knows what it takes to win.
