Volleyball Bobcat Machovec named to All-Conference First Team

Right before the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) volleyball tournament, the All-Conference Teams were announced, with Buckhead native Rachel Machovec from Georgia College & State University claiming her third-career All-Conference honor.

While playing at Flagler College in 2019, Machovec claimed All-PBC secondteam honors and in 2021 earned her first All-PBC first-team honor. Last season, her first year in the Bobcats blue-and-green, led to Machovec’s latest first-team honor.

Machovec was a huge get for GCSU from the transfer portal in the off-season. In her first season as a Bobcat, she led the team in kills with 265 and averaged 2.62 kills per set. She also led the team in service aces with 40. On the defensive side of things, Machovec had the second most digs on the team with 341, averaging 3.38 per set, just behind the libero. She also made her presence known at the net with 60 blocks last season.

Machovec is the first Bobcat since the 2018 season when Taylor Svehla won received First Team honors. That season Svehla was also named co-PBC Player of the Year.

Machovec will return to GCSU next season to finish out her volleyball career and her master’s degree.
