The University of Georgia Ice Dawgs hockey team officially released its 2026-2027 season schedule at Akins Ford Arena and unveiled “Built Beneath Athens,” a season-long campaign celebrating nearly four decades of Ice Dawgs hockey.
Founded in 1987, the Ice Dawgs have grown into one of the most recognizable collegiate hockey programs in the Southeast, building a tradition connecting generations of student-athletes, alumni, fans, and supporters throughout Georgia.
The 2026-27 season features 12 home games at Akins Ford Arena, with opening night on Sept. 27 bringing the University of Minnesota to Athens.
The “Built Beneath Athens” campaign is intended to serve as a reminder that Ice Dawgs hockey is not a new tradition; it is part of the foundation of Athens. Through storytelling, community engagement, alumni recognition, and fan experiences, “Built Beneath Athens” will celebrate the people and moments that have shaped the program since its inception.
“When we began planning this season, we wanted to create something that truly reflected who we are; not just as a hockey team, but as a program that has been part of Athens for nearly four decades,” UGA Ice Dawgs General Manager and head coach John Camp said.
“We developed a campaign that captured our culture, our history, and the passion that’s been built by generations of players and fans. It honors the foundation that so many people have helped create while giving our team and our community something to rally behind as we begin this next chapter.”
Season Tickets for the 2026-27 Ice Dawgs season are on sale now, and fans can view the season schedule at UGAHockey.com. Single-game tickets are expected to go on sale later this month.
