Dear editor,
The Deep Roots Festival is almost here, and we couldn’t be more excited. We know it may be tempting to bring your furry friend along, but for several important reasons, this event is pet-free. Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) fully supports the organizers in this decision.
While we love our fourlegged companions, not everyone feels the same way. Many people, especially children, are afraid of dogs or simply uncomfortable around them.
Everyone in our community deserves the chance to enjoy the festival safely and happily.
Deep Roots is a lively, crowded, and sometimes noisy event. Small pets could easily get stepped on and injured. Even the calmest dogs can become stressed in such an environment, which may lead to unpredictable behavior like barking, pulling, or even biting. Although you may be a responsible pet owner, you cannot guarantee that all pets and all people will respond well in this busy setting. Sadly, when accidents happen, it is usually the pet that suffers the consequences.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, we encourage you to come out and celebrate with your family and friends at the Deep Roots Festival. For everyone’s comfort and safety, please leave your pets at home.
Sincerely, Allene Veazey President, Board of Directors Animal Rescue Foundation, Inc
