Inmate death recorded at Baldwin County jail

Assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested after an inmate at the Baldwin County jail passed away on Aug. 25.

The inmate was identified as Kenta Roderick Hill, listed with a Leroy Oliver Road address. Hill previously was sentenced to an “inpatient mental health treatment program” and was being housed at the county jail until a spot in a treatment program opened up. Lamar King, Sr. and New Media: The Whole Truth first reported the story.

Hill “had previous health issues and had a stent in his heart, from what we understand,” according to Sheriff Bill Massee. Massee added that it’s standard to call in the GBI after a death inside the jail.

One of Hill’s family members is an employee at the Sheriff’s Office, and the family member “notified the next of kin,” added Massee.
